Museums seek talent at Indian Market

THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 2002 Museums throughout the country were on the prowl last weekend at the 81st annual Santa Fe Indian Market in New Mexico. "Museums that are not looking at this as a source of collecting are really missing the boat," one curator told The New York Times. The market draws hundreds of Native artists, whose work must be reviewed and approved to be included. Most the top names in Indian art got their start at the annual event. Get the Story:
