Calif. tribes spend $2.7M on Republican candidate
Thursday, October 2, 2003

California tribes have spent $2.7 million to support Republican state senator Tom McClintock, who is trailing in the polls behind Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) and Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante (D)

Other major donors include national conservative leader Howard Ahmanson Jr., who has funded free-market and religious think tanks, according to The Los Angeles Times. McClintock also has support from the state's most conservative Republicans.
