The first Gathering and Healing of Nations will take place October 6 in Pierre, South Dakota.

Tribal and state leaders will meet to discuss shared issues, including jurisdiction, economic development, justice and law enforcement.

Opening remarks will be provided by Cheyenne River Sioux chairman Harold Frazier,, Sen. Tom Daschle (D) and Linda Mickelson Graham, wife of the late former governor George S. Mickelson, who called for reconciliation between Indians and non-Indians.
