The Oneida Nation and local officials are concerned about the location of a proposed commercial casino in New York.

The tribe and the state agreed to a zone of exclusivity around the Turning Stone Resort Casino. The proposed casino is located right on the edge of the zone, The Utica Observer-Dispatch reported.

“To post it on the edge is a region competing against itself. It’s not good for the economy or any of us and I would oppose it strongly," Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente told the paper.

The proposed casino in Tyre is about 77 miles from the tribe's casino. Developer Wilmorite, Inc. made its presentation to the New York State Gaming Commission last week.
