"I had a most excellent adventure this past weekend when I interviewed Dr. Lynn Rogers who is the bear man, or the man who walks and talks with bears.

Rogers works at the Northland Bear Research Station about 12 miles south of Ely. There are about 200 residents near the station.

Rogers, who is 64, is a tall, lanky fellow with thinning, white hair and a mustache. He is a person with a one-track mind - bears. He also is a kind and gentle man. I interviewed him in the two-story station. Laugh if you will, but when he began talking about bear sounds - huffing and teeth chomps - I thought a bear might come to the window."
