Yellow Bird: Enjoying another Indian Summer
Monday, October 13, 2003
"The warm and wonderful weather of this past week is one of the reasons I love the Dakotas. The fall is peaceful and contemplating, while the spring is awakening and anticipating. These are the seasons when you can smell the essence of the change. Spring makes you want to throw off your winter coat and dance across last year's grass with your face toward the sun. And the fall, like this week, has some of the same wonders - but there are differences, too. The Earth is quiet and peaceful now. That peacefulness makes you want to lie down among the fallen leaves and stare at the sky or listen to the leaves and try and catch their sound as they float down. The Earth is at rest. It is the time for thanksgiving, a time when you look back at the long year and are thankful for the gifts of the Creator." Get the Story:
