The North Dakota Board of Higher Education took no action on the controversial "Fighting Sioux" nickname and logo of the University of North Dakota at a meeting today, The Grand Forks Herald reports.

Some board members previously indicated they want to retire the name. But it looks like they will wait until the North Dakota Supreme Court rules on a lawsuit field by members of the Spirit Lake Dakotah Nation.

Spirit Lake members who support the name say the board should wait until members of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe weigh in. The case will be heard March 23.

A settlement between UND and the NCAA requires UND to gain approval from both tribes by November 23, 2010.
