Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas held a reception for new president Linda Warner on Thursday.
Warner, a member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma, was welcomed with open arms. “She is a vision seeker, and we will enjoy following her,” registrar Manny King told The Lawrence Journal-World.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs selected Warner to replace Karen Swisher, who retired last December.
Warner is taking 90 days to meet students, faculty and staff before proposing any changes.
