Haskell University feels strain of Bush budget cuts

Haskell Indian Nations University is feeling the pinch of the Bush administration's budget cuts and is seeking ways to offset the loss of federal funds.

President Karen Swisher is reviewing the school's options with the Board of Regents today. On Thursday, she will convene a Tribal Leaders Summit to learn if tribes can help deal with the budget cuts.

This year alone, Haskell faces a shortfall of more than $1 million.
