Students at Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas will pay double the amount of fees and receive fewer meals under changes adopted by the board of regents.
Students who live on campus will pay $210 per semester while those off campus will pay $70. Meals will either be reduced from three per day to two per day or eliminated altogether on the weekends.
Haskell officials said they were forced to make changes due to a limited budget. But students complained that the fee hike was unfair since education is a trust responsibility. They also said they aren't receiving adequate services.
