In a column for a conservative publication, Comanche writer David Yeagley called the National Museum of the American Indian a "shrine for native resentment a cultural center for anti-white, anti-European sentiments."
Now he's scheduled to perform there next month.
Yeagley will appear at a "Classical Native Recital" on October 5. He is scheduled to perform with James Pellerite, a flutist [NMAI Schedule]
In his Front Page Magazine column, Yeagley blasted NMAI for embracing indigenous people of the Americas. He suggested the museum was only a step away from including African-Americans in its exhibits.
"It's only a matter of time, and the word 'indigenous' will include the Negro slaves of the Americas," he wrote.
Yeagley also questioned why gaming tribes like the Oneida Nation of New York and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut donated money to the museum. Yeagley has allied himself with anti-treaty and anti-Indian groups that are opponents of the Oneida and Pequot tribes.
