A handful of members of the Blackfeet Nation are still in Dallas, Texas, helping the Federal Emergency Management Agency provide services to hurricane victims.
Over 350 tribal members were working in Dallas at the height of the relief effort. Most have been sent home or deployed to other areas, with 21 remaining in the city.
Aloysious Red Fox and Darryl Vielle are among those still stationed. They are reaching out to victims who may still need assistance with housing and other services.
FEMA says the Blackfeet workers are good candidates for the job because they can show empathy with displaced people. FEMA has recognized the tribe for its efforts.
