The National Congress of American Indians [NCAI], the First Nations Development Institute [FNDI] and the National Indian Gaming Association [NIGA] will hold a press conference on Thursday, October 20, to give an update on hurricane relief efforts in Indian Country.

The leaders of the organizations will report on the outpouring of support that tribes and Indian people have shown for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. Both storms impacted several Indian communities.

Among those severely hit by Katrina was the United Houma Nation of Louisiana, a state-recognized tribes. Principal Chief Brenda Dardar Robichaux will appear to describe how over 6,000 in her community have been affected.

The press conference takes place October 20, 2005, at 2:00pm at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C [Web Site].
