TUESDAY, JULY 1, 2003

The Department of Defense has wrapped up its investigation of the use of chemical or biological agents on service members.

Through Project SHAD, nearly 6,000 veterans were exposed to toxins during Cold War tests. VX and sarin were sprayed on sailors, ships and in Alaska on traditional Athabaskan territory, California, Maryland, Florida, Utah and Canada.

The Pentagon claims no civilians were exposed to deadly chemicals and nerve agents.
