Minn. tribe asserts veto power on nuclear plan

TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 2003 The Prairie Island Mdewakanton Dakota Tribe of Minnesota continues to oppose efforts to store more nuclear waste at a facility next to the reservation. The tribe cites a 1994 law that limits the waste at the site. Xcel Energy, the operators of the plant, is seeking to change the law to store additional casks of radioactive material. Get the Story:
