Okla. city to investigate tribe's land

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2002 An Oklahoma city wants to determine whether the Absentee Shawnee Tribe can legally operate a casino on trust land within city limits. Tecumseh city attorney Steven L. Parker said the 33-acre parcel might not qualify as "Indian land" for gaming purposes. He plans to address the issue with the National Indian Gaming Commission. The city council has voted to deny utilities to the tribe. Get the Story:
