Conn. towns see green in hotel proposal

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2002 Leaders of two Connecticut towns that have complained about the impact of land-into-trust on their tax base are hoping a new tribal hotel will bring in revenue. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is considering building a hotel on non-trust property in Preston or Ledyard. The host town will be able to collect thousands of dollars in taxes. The tribe is already the second largest taxpayer in Ledyard. Get the Story:
