S.C. tribe in leadership dispute

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2002 Newly elected leaders of the Catawba Nation of South Carolina were refused access to the tribe's longhouse on Monday. The tribe's current leadership says an election held over the weekend was illegal. They claim Bureau of Indian Affairs backing. The rivals also claim BIA support. Get the Story:
