John Potter: Mad about Kennewick Man

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2002

"Really Stupid Stuff That Vexes Me: Federal Judge rules Kennewick Man is NOT Native American, but actually an ancestor of modern scientists. Therefore, the scientists get to further ravage, I mean study, the remains.

I wrote about this last year sometime, I think. It vexed me then, and $3 million worth of taxpayer's money later, it vexes me still. More.

Just to bring you up to speed, here's who Kennewick Man is. "Kenny," as I like to call him, is a collection of 380 bones and bone fragments which, when loosely assembled together, make up about 80 percent of a complete skeleton, faintly resembling Alan Greenspan. . ."
