Okla. Indian statue ready for rise

TUESDAY, JUNE 4, 2002 A bronze statue of an Indian warrior will be raised to the top of the Oklahoma state capitol this Friday. "The Guardian" was designed by state Sen. Kelly Haney, a member of the Seminole Nation. It is 22 feet tall and weighs 6,000 pounds. In conjunction with the Red Earth pow-wow and arts festival, the Native-themed ceremony will feature a drum group, dancers and a traditional blessing. Get the Story:
