A group of 11 towns in Connecticut voted on Wednesday to support the state's appeal of the federal recognition of the Eastern Pequot Tribe.

Connecticut attorney general Richard Blumenthal filed the challenge last month. He claims the Eastern Pequot and Paucatuck Eastern Pequot tribes are not worthy of federal status.

Three towns nearest to the Eastern Pequot Reservation joined in the appeal. The others are just expressing their support.
