Anti-treaty rights group protests Cayuga Nation
Friday, October 24, 2003

An anti-treaty and anti-sovereignty group plans to hold a protest against the Cayuga Nation of New York.

Upstate Citizens for Equality opposes the tribe's efforts to restore its land base and create economic development. The tribe, landless for more than a century, has bought two gas stations and convenience stores, where it sells tax free cigarettes and gasoline.

UCE has fought the Oneida Nation land claim and is allied with regional and national anti-Indian organizations.
