Communal Indian burial site uncovered in N.Y.
Friday, October 10, 2003

Archaeologists are marveling at the discovery of a communal grave site on Long Island in New York.

At least five Indians, believed to be descendants of the historic Manhanset tribe, are buried together. Scientists are conducting tests to determine how old the remains are.

The owners of the land where the grave was discovered asked the Shinnecock Nation to advise them on what to do with the site.
