Yurok Tribe marks anniversary of Klamath fishkill
Monday, September 29, 2003

The Yurok Tribe of California marked the anniversary of the Klamath River fishkill on Friday.

More than 33,000 fish died in the basin last year. The tribe, environmentalists and the state attribute the deaths to the Department of Interior's water policy in the Klamath Basin.

In making decisions in the basin, the Bush administration has favored non-Indian farmers over tribes, who have treaty rights, and fishermen.
