Mont. conference looks at No Child Left Behind

Department of Education officials explained how the No Child Left Behind Act applies to Native Americans at a conference in Billings, Montana, on Tuesday.

The act applies to public schools and ties accountability with federal funding. It seeks to give school districts more flexibility in spending and parents more choices for education.

In an area particularly useful for Indian Country, the act encourages more research.
