Wednesday, September 3, 2003

Five tribes have signed an agreement with New Mexico State University to work on Indian education issues.

The tribes and the school will work to increase enrollment and improve academic performance of Native students. They will also work on an agreement to waive tuition for tribal members and try to appoint a tribal member to the school's board of regents.

The tribes involved are the Pueblos of Acoma, Cochiti, Santa Ana and Zuni in New Mexico, and the Tigua Tribe of Texas.
