Obituary: Mellick, Native businessman and leader

Nick Mellick Jr., a businessman and leader from the village of Sleetmute, died last week of a probable heart attack. He was 71.

Mellick owned his own air taxi business, ran a lodge and was a fur trader. He served as chairman of Kuskokwim Corp., an Alaska Native village corporation.

Mellick was also an advocate for preservation of Ingalik culture.
