Anderson rejects critic's call to resign from BIA post
Monday, May 10, 2004

Assistant secretary Dave Anderson said on Friday that he would not resign from his post as head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Anderson is under fire for removing himself from all federal recognition, gaming and gaming land-into-trust matters. Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut) and other critics from Connecticut say he should resign if he can't handle all the duties of the job.

But Anderson told the Associated Press he has no intention of resigning. At the graduation ceremony for the United Tribes Technical College in North Dakota, he said he wouldn't apologize for his past work in the Indian gaming industry.
