Reznet News: Students react to OutKast
Friday, February 13, 2004

Students at Reznet News, an website for young Native journalists, react to the OutKast performance.

Tetona Dunlap: "I could not believe my eyes. I was completely stunned. For a second I had to remind myself it was 2004. Never before have I seen such mockery of a race on such a highly viewed program as the Grammys."

Elena Cisneros: "OutKast’s performance, taken in its context, is seen as nothing more than a song and performance, but for me it was an outlandish cartoon cannonball that slapped a culture in the face."

Jade-Heather Lepotokisi: "The performance was extremely offensive and somewhat degrading. I cursed and yelled at the television set as my husband laughed and asked me repeatedly what was wrong."
