The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians in California has a new leader for the first time in nearly two decades. Kenneth Kahn, who previously served as vice chairman, won a special election to serve as chairman. He succeeds Vincent Armenta, who led the tribe for 17 years before stepping down last month. "I am deeply honored that my fellow tribal members have elected me to serve as our new tribal chairman," Kahn said in a statement, The Lompoc Record reported. "I look forward to working alongside my fellow business committee members to ensure that the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians continues to grow and prosper." Armenta left his leadership post to pursue a degree at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. Get the Story:
