Acoma Pueblo breaks ground on stimulus project
Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico broke ground on fitness facility with funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The tribe is spending $14 million on the project. Plans were scaled back to keep the costs down.

“We had to scale back the cost and eliminate plans for a library and auditorium, and decided to concentrate on physical well-being,” tribal engineer Raymond J. Concho, Jr. told The Cibola Beacon.

The tribe received money from the Department of Agriculture Rural Development Business and Cooperative Program.
