Arrests made at Yankton Sioux hog farm protest

South Dakota state police arrested 17 members of the Yankton Sioux Tribe who are protesting a hog farm in Charles Mix County.
The 17 were charged with disorderly conduct for blocking a Bureau of Indian Affairs road that leads to the hog farm site. Some questioned whether the state has jurisdiction on the road.
The tribe opposes the operation, saying it will harm the environment. Long View Farms wants to house more than 3,000 sows and produce about 70,000 pigs annually at the farm.
