The family of Nathaniel Saunsoci-Mitchell, a 20-month old boy who died in foster care, is seeking answers from the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska.
Nathaniel was placed in foster care by the tribe. He died of traumatic head injuries but no one has been charged in connection with his death.
The family wants to know why Nathaniel was placed in the home of Carlos and Tisha Vega, who lived off the reservation. The couple moved to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota after the boy died.
Dakota County Attorney Ed Matney has been investigating the death. He has said the Omaha Tribe has not provided information to him. Nathaniel's family asked the tribe for medical records and to cooperate in the case.
