Coushatta Tribe's elections official fired over recall

An elections official who accepted three recall petitions against three leaders of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana has been fired.

Anna Thompson accepted petitions against chairman Lovelin Poncho and two council members, William Worfel and Leonard Battise. Poncho fired her on Wednesday.

The recall stems in part from the tribe's use of $32 million to pay Washington lobbyists. Poncho and Worfel reportedly authorized the high fees.
