Church's tent to be removed from reservation

A 10,000-square-foot tent will be allowed to stay on the Torres-Martinez Desert Cahuilla Reservation until September 30.

The Global Church erected the structure on private land within the reservation without permission from the Torres-Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians or Riverside County. After facing several threats of removal, the church agreed in court to close the tent and seek permits for events planned in September.

The church originally planned to use the tent as the command center for a vast tent city for migrant farmworkers.
