Church faces deadline on reservation tent city

A church that wants to build a massive tent city for homeless farm workers on the Torres-Martinez Desert Cahuilla Reservation in California faces an important deadline today.

The Global Church was told to apply for a permit for a 10,000-square-foot tent meant to serve as the tent city's command center. Officials from the Torres-Martinez Tribe and Riverside County say the structure was erected in violation of local laws.

The county will be responsible for handling the permit if one is submitted. The tent facility is located on private land within the boundaries of the Torres-Martinez reservation.
