A public school district in New York finally received a share of gaming revenues from the Seneca Nation. The Salamanca City School District received $714,141 to cover two quarters in 2013 and 2014. The money had been withheld due to confusion about gaming revenues and the federal Impact Aid program. “It was decided that the casino payments and Impact Aid were two separate means of funding," Mayor Ronald Ball told The Salamanca Press. Impact Aid is a federal program that provides funds to public school districts with non-taxable Indian lands. It is separate from the money the tribe shares from the Seneca Allegany Casino. The school district previously received $5.7 million from the tribe in December 2013 for payments that were being withheld as part of a dispute with the state. Get the Story:
