The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut remains committed to a commercial casino in New York, a top gaming executive said. The tribe wants to build a $550 million casino at the former Concord Resort Hotel in the Catskills region. Mitchell Etess, the CEO of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, said he will continue to push for the project even though is transitioning towards retirement. "Essentially, once the President comes on board, I will be providing overall strategic guidance to the MTGA and be solely focused on the Concord, should you be kind enough to award us the license for the Catskills region," Etess wrote in a letter to a New York official, The New London Day reported. Sixteen groups, including the tribe, submitted bids this fall for four potential casinos in different regions of the state.
