Filipino gamblers, many of them elderly, are flocking to tribal casinos in southern California, The Philippine Daily Inquirer reports.

A host at the casino owned by the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians estimated that 30 percent of regular patrons are Filipino. A gambler from the Philippines who was in the state to visit relatives estimated that half the crowd was Filipino during her recent trip to the Valley View Casino.

“Some of them in wheelchairs, some in canes and could hardly walk, but they all looked very happy,” Lydia told The Philippine Daily Inquirer.
