The gaming enterprise of the Gila River Indian Community reached a naming rights agreement with the Arizona Coyotes.

Gila River Casinos will put its name on the stadium where the team plays. The deal for the Gila River Arena will run nine years.

“As a long term partner of the Arizona Coyotes, Gila River Casinos and the Gila River Indian Community are delighted to partner with the Arizona Coyotes as a naming partner," Deborah Griffin, the president of the board of directors for Gila River Casinos, said in a press release.

Financial terms will be released after the city council in Glendale considers the deal. If it's approved, the city will receive a share of the amount of the contract, according to news reports.

“The value of the deal is much more than the previous deal," a spokesperson for the team told KJZZ.

The stadium is located about a mile from the site of the Tohono O'odham Nation off-reservation gaming site. The Gila River Tribe is fighting the proposed West Valley Resort but the Tohono O'odham Nation welcomed the naming rights agreement.

"The Tohono O’odham Nation congratulates the Arizona Coyotes on today’s announcement of their new arena naming rights deal," Chairman Ned Norris Jr. said in a press release, according to news reports. "The nation also welcomes Gila River to the community as the significant naming rights investment with the Coyotes will provide needed funding for the team."
