A judge with the National Labor Relations Board has sided with employees at the casino owned by the Pauma Band of Luiseño Indians in California. The tribe barred Casino Pauma employees from wearing pro-union buttons on the job. Judge Jeffrey Wedekind said the rule was unfair and overly broad. "The Board has repeatedly held that employer bans on all buttons or emblems, including union buttons, are not justified merely because employees have contact with customers," the June 25 decision stated. About 149 employees want to join the UNITE-HERE union. They were told they could be disciplined for wearing pro-union buttons. The case is Casino Pauma, No. 21-CA-103026. Get the Story:
