Officials in Spokane County, Washington, have spent $300,000 in legal fees to fight the Spokane Tribe off-reservation casino.

The fees to Perkins Coie were incurred in just the last 17 months, The Spokesman Review reported. A single letter to the Bureau of Indian Affairs cost $28,000, the paper said.

That letter asked the BIA to conduct a new study regarding the potential the impact of the proposed Spokane Tribe Economic Project on the nearby Fairchild Air Force Base. However, military officials have already concluded there will be no adverse effects from the West Plains Mixed-Use Development.
