The Winnebago Tribe remains hopeful for approval of Class III gaming in Nebraska.

Lawmakers failed to advance a bill to authorize casinos and put the issue to a statewide vote. That would have allowed the tribe to pursue a $40 million facility at a former racetrack.

A bill to authorize race track betting remains on the table. The tribe plans to reopen the track if that passes.

The tribe operates a Class III facility in neighboring Iowa.
