The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut will have to wait until November 26 for a recount on its commercial casino proposal.

Residents in the town of Palmer narrowly rejected the rejected the $1 billion Mohegan Sun Palmer by just 93 votes. The tribe requested a recount but was hoping for an answer sooner rather than later.

"Mohegan Sun right now is in limbo. We cannot move ahead with our application for the Palmer site," attorney Kevin C. Conroy told The Springfield Republican.

If the vote stands, MGM Resorts International will be the only one in the running for the western Massachusetts casino. Voters in Springfield already approved the company's $800 million project.

The final decision on the license rests with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. MGM has to survive a background check before the license is awarded.
