Members of the Bishop Paiute Tribe of California voted down a $118 million casino development project, according to unofficial results posted by opponents.

The vote against development was 287 to 258. "The people are in charge and have spoken. Hope is affirmed again as the people can spot and vote down nonsense," a post on the Save North Pa Ha Facebook page stated.

Save North Pa Ha urged tribal members to vote against the project, which would have involved a new casino near the Paiute Palace Casino.
