The Seneca Nation has acquired the final parcel of land for its $200 million permanent off-reservation casino in Buffalo, New York.
The tribe has been operating the Seneca
Buffalo Creek Casino in a temporary building since 2007.
Litigation and economic issues slowed progress on a permanent facility but the tribe is almost done with the project.
“The Senecas are investing close to $200 million to create a fun and exciting entertainment destination and, more importantly, an economic generator for the City of Buffalo," President Barry E. Snyder Sr. told The Buffalo News.
The tribe has acquired nearly 10 acres for the casino.
The land has been placed in restricted fee status under the terms of the Seneca
Nation Settlement Act of 1990.
Opponents are still trying to stop the casino in court.
