The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, could be expanding its casino.

The tribe asked the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a permit to fill in about four acres of wetlands by the Gun Lake Casino. The comment period closed in February so the tribe is waiting for a decision.

“Since its opening, the casino has been an amazing success and, as a result, we are now exploring a first phase of expansion," John Shagonaby, the CEO of the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Authority, told The Allegan County News.

The tribe hasn't finalized plans but an expansion could include a hotel.
