The Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma hopes an answer soon on its off-reservation casino in Kansas.
The tribe submitted a land-into-trust application in 2006. But the Bureau of Indian Affairs hasn't made a decision.
The tribe is asking a federal judge to force the BIA to take action. The 10.5-acre property was acquired in connection with a land claim settlement act.
In a prior case, the tribe won the right to engage in gaming at a property in Kansas City that was acquired in connection with the same land claim.
The law mandates that the land be placed in trust.
