Three Navajo Code Talkers recently returned to Iwo Jima and other World War II sites for the first time.
Samuel Tso, Keith Little and Samuel J. Smith said their return visit was emotional. They fought in the Pacific theater of the war, delivering messages in the Navajo language that were never broken by the Japanese.
Little said he was reluctant to go back. But he said the visit gave him "emotional relief," The Gallup Independent reported.
The trip was arranged by the Santa Fe Media and Education Center and the Navajo Code Talkers Association.
