Chibitty, last Comanche Code Talker, passes away

Charles Chibitty, the last Comanche Code Talker, died at a Tulsa hospital on Wednesday. He was 83.

Chibitty was among a handful of Comanches who used their language to help the U.S. win World War II. He stormed the beach in Normandy and delivered messages for the Army.

Throughout his life, Chibitty was honored for his service. He was presented with awards from the Defense Department and the government of France.

Services will be held at 10am Tuesday at the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow.
